This is a ground (powdered) form of bay leaf. Used as a seasoning in soups, stews, meat, seafood, vegetable dishes, and sauces. This is a flavor found in many classic French dishes. Whole bay leaves are most often used (sometimes in a bouquet garnish) and removed before serving (they can be abrasive in the digestive tract), the powdered form has similar flavors and uses.
